Most Dangerous Mountain; Annapurna Peak

I have a list of 1,000 things to do before I say goodbye to this world. One of them is at least stay for a couple days in a major base camp of the Himalayan mountains and do some trekking. No, I'm not going to climb any peak! That's far from reality for me. In my searches for my future plans, I came across a not so famous peak called Annapurma which has an odd story to tell.

Annapurna I, this col peaks at 8,091 metres (26,545 ft), compared to mount Everest's 8,500-metere (27,900 ft) its the world's 10th highest summit. Whats not special about its peak is the fatality rate of its successful expedition. As of 2005, only 103 successful summits have been made, and 56 lives were lost or about more than 50% fatality. Climbers killed on the peak include famed Russian climber Anatoli Boukreev in 1997, Christian Kuntner in 2005 and Iñaki Ochoa in 2008.

The Annapurna I peak was the highest summit reached by climbers in history on June 3, 1950. In fact it remained the highest peak reached for three years before Mt. Everest.
